Jayman A. Avery III has dedicated over 30 years of public service to the citizens of Cook County as an Assistant State’s Attorney in the Civil Actions Bureau. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from Taylor University in 1981, his Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina in 1984, and his LL.M. in Urban Affairs from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 1985.

As an Assistant State’s Attorney for more than 31 years, Jayman had a successful career in government law as counsel to numerous Cook County agencies and elected officials. Jayman was able to rise through the ranks to become Deputy Supervisor of the Municipal Litigation Section, where he helped manage over 10 Assistant State’s Attorneys. Jayman has extensive and special expertise in land use litigation and while at the State’s Attorney’s Office concentrated in FOIA, FOID, construction, annexation, and election litigation matters.

At OMFM, Ltd., Jayman concentrates his practice in litigation and advice to the firm’s numerous municipal clients concerning FOIA and land use matters.

Jayman is married to Teresa (White) Avery, and they have two adult children.
